Golf Fore Kids

This summer, we’re proudly celebrating a major milestone: the 25th annual Golf Fore Kids tournament! For a quarter of a century, this 18 hole, four person best shot event has brought together generous individuals, businesses, and community leaders to support local children and families. It’s more than just a golf tournament—it’s a tradition built on heart, generosity, and community spirit.

  • Friday, August 8 at Ames Golf & Country Club
  • 8:30am - Registration | 9:30am - Shotgun start
  • $500/foursome or $125/individual*  (registration includes green fee, cart, lunch, prizes)
  • Silent Auction presented in-person and virtually by mobile phone
  • Multiple hole contests and hole-in-one grand prizes

Businesses have a unique opportunity to support the Golf for Kids event through sponsorship and donations.  By participating as a sponsor or donor, businesses can play a crucial role in making the Golf for Kids event a success, all while promoting their brand and contributing to the community. In 2024 alone, nearly $20,000 was distributed to support impactful programs like meal assistance, summer camps, sensory and adaptive equipment, reading initiatives, and more. Silent Auction In-Kind Donations

As part of the celebration, we’re hosting a silent auction to raise funds and are seeking donations from local businesses like yours. Whether it’s a gift card, experience, product, or service, your contribution will help us create lasting change in our community. Auction items in past years have included a variety of generous and creative donations, such as:

  • Gift cards and/or one-of-a-kind items
  • Event and/or experience tickets
  • Professional services such as photography sessions, fitness classes, or salon services
  • Weekend getaways or vacation home stays

Each year, hundreds of kids and families benefit from Golf Fore Kids grants, which are awarded to local organizations across the county. Your sponsorship helps us continue this meaningful work and expand our reach even further in 2025.

Proceeds from Golf Fore Kids will fund programs and initiatives that impact the lives of Story County kids above and beyond current funding opportunities. More information regarding request for proposals for Golf Fore Kids grants will be out in the spring.

Partner Agencies interested in hosting a hole during Golf Fore Kids should fill out this form by July 15. 


2024 Grant Recipients

Team Neutrino (4-H) FLL Blastoff! Summer Camp - $650

Support to provide scholarships for underserved students in grades 4-8 to attend their summer STEM camp, which offers hands-on experiences in programming, robot design, and teamwork through FIRST LEGO League challenges.

Ames Public Library Friends Foundation - $1,000

After-School Deposit Collection serving about 140 after school program participants.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree - $3,000

The Angel Tree Program, run by The Salvation Army in Story County, Iowa, provides holiday gifts, clothing, books, and food gift cards to low-income families with children aged 12 and under, aiming to serve approximately 275 families (500 children and 400 adults) during the 2024 holiday season.

Nevada Community Cupboard - $3,000

The Nevada Community Cupboard's Holiday Food Distribution program provides additional food resources, including gift cards and holiday meal ingredients, to food-insecure families in Eastern Story County during November and December. 656 sacks of food were distributed.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County - $3,000

Support to cover cost of meals and snacks for the after-school, summer, and school break programs to vulnerable Story County youth ages 6-18. Over 2,300 meals were served for 185 youth in Ames and Nevada.

ChildServe - $3,000

Support to purchase toys and equipment for use in the autism and medical childcare classrooms for children with medical needs and developmental delays. 50 children are served in programs using these toys. 

Raising Readers in Story County - $3,000

Support for the parent education program that enhances caregiver-child interactions for families with children aged 2-30 months in Story County, using interactive, play-based sessions to promote early language and literacy development, with the goal of improving kindergarten readiness and long-term academic success.
