UWSC Kicks Off LIVE UNITED Food Drive May 13
One in four students in Story County is eligible to receive free/reduced lunch. Once summer break starts, these children won’t have access to school-provided meals. Therefore, the need for food at local food pantries is even greater during the summer months. To combat the need, United Way of Story County (UWSC) will hold the 5th annual LIVE UNITED Food Drive May 13-23, 2013.

United Way Worldwide Recognizes 3M and Wells Fargo
United Way Worldwide recognized 3M with the 2013 United Way Spirit of America® award for philanthropy, volunteer engagement and community impact. Wells Fargo also received a Summit award for volunteer engagement. The Spirit of America and Summit Awards program is United Way’s highest national honor for a corporation, recognizing outstanding United Way Global Corporate Leaders.

United Way of Story County Announces 2013 Endowment Project
United Way of Story County (UWSC) announced its endowment income for this year will help extend the Backpack Buddies program. Backpack Buddies, a Food Bank of Iowa program which provides kids participating in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program a backpack full of food to feed the child for the weekend, was also the focus of the 2012 endowment.
