
United Way of Story County - in collaboration with many other partners – received a Coronavirus Relief Employer Innovation Grant from the state of Iowa in late September 2020. United Way of Story County is offering free, educational programs which will be completed by December 2020. These programs provide training in high-demand industries: MIG Welding, Manufacturing Technician, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Participants get:
- FREE registration
- FREE tools and books
- FREE computer and internet access
- Interviews and/or on-site employer "meet and greet" sessions with Story County employers
- Childcare vouchers and transportation if needed.
The Welding Program started October 12 with a co-hort of 7 students. Training is being provided at the Nevada High School Career Academy.
The Manufacturing program starts November 4 with a co-hort of [10] students. Training is being provided at the DMACC Hunziker Center in Ames and online.
