UWSC Benefits with Hoiburger Sales

2014-06-19 - UWSC Benefits with Hoiburger Sales

The Hoiburger, a new sandwich at Applebee’s named after Iowa State University Men’s Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg, is being offered in eleven area restaurants in June, July and August. With the introduction of the Hoiburger, Carol and Fred Hoiberg were given the opportunity to select a charity to benefit from this promotion, and they chose United Way of Story County (UWSC). One dollar will be donated to UWSC for every sandwich sold.

During the first week, Applebee’s sold 1,409 Hoiburgers, and 1,447 were sold in the second week. One out of every four Hoiburgers sold is coming from the Ames restaurant.

“We are so appreciative to Carol and Fred,” said UWSC President and CEO Jean Kresse. “This is such a fun way for people to learn about and support United Way’s work.”

Restaurants running the promotion include: Ames, Ft. Dodge, Marshalltown, Ottumwa, Pella and the following in the greater Des Moines area: Altoona, Ankeny, Clive (I-35 and University), Jordan Creek, Merle Hay Mall and SE 14th and Army Post.
