Drive for Emergency Response and Relief
Our annual Golf Fore Kids tournament, raising funds for children and family programs throughout our county, happens every summer, typically generating more than $25,000 for our community. We partner with companies and organizations throughout the community to sponsor our golf tournament, benefiting from the more than 100 golfers and countless volunteers who make our event successful.
With the current global crisis, we have made the unfortunate decision to cancel the 2020 golf outing. We were scheduled to hold the event on July 10 this year. In an effort not to lose funding for the vital programs that Golf Fore Kids supports, we are reaching out to those who have supported us in the past. With no golf balls, golf clubs, or golf carts needed, 100% of what we raise will support opportunities for our neighbors in Story County.
United Way of Story County staff are working remotely, but we are still partnering with various organizations to address issues facing so many in our community. We are seeing increased needs in food security, housing support, child care, and educational opportunities. Individuals and families that may have gotten by in the past, are now facing significant challenges. Our hope is that although the actual event is cancelled, we can still count on our past sponsors to help meet these needs.
