GivingTuesday is about making today’s dreams tomorrow’s reality. Help everyone in our community have an equal opportunity to thrive.
When you donate to United Way of Story County you:
Make healthy, affordable food more accessible
Provide more shelter for people experiencing homelessness
Help more people connect to 211, a critical helpline
Give more people support navigating unemployment benefits
Increase job training opportunities
Support students from learning to read to graduating high school
Connect more people to mental health care services
Our neighbors cannot wait any longer for relief, for support, for equality, for the opportunity to live a healthy, thriving life. Join generous community members across our region in making a gift today.
When we chose to help, to contribute, to reach out, that’s when we create change in our community. One moment of compassion and generosity makes it possible for anyone in our community to recover from a crisis, rebuild what was lost, to reimagine a new kind of future in 2021.
When you give on Giving Tuesday, you will be helping people change their lives. Together we can:
Create strong starts for children
Through early education programs we make sure children have access to a high-quality education. In the last year, Raising Readers in Story County helped 367 children with early literacy skills and will keep preparing kids in 2022.
Provide safe homes and warm meals
We provide support for people experiencing homelessness and hunger in our community, especially as the needs increase during COVID-19. Nearly 1,400 households received Emergency Food and/or Rent and Utility vouchers this year.
Give more adults career training and support
The right training can help more people get hired, increase their salary and improve their financial stability. Our Workforce Innovation Project helped support 26 individuals get a certification in new career paths and help make our local economy stronger.
Increase access to health care
Resources like NAMI Central Iowa's Wellness Center saw 1,400 visitors and made connections to critical health services and care in FY 20-21. Every person in our community should have access to what they need to have a stable, healthy life—to thrive, rather than to just survive.
Help us raise $4,000 in 24 hours for local programs like these.
