AMES, Iowa — Even in light of challenging economic conditions,
Iowa
State
University employees and students have pledged more than $312,000 to the United Way of
Story
County ’s (UWSC) 2009 Campaign, a record amount that exceeds the university’s goal by nearly 5 percent.
“With our faculty, staff and student’s generous support,
Iowa
State once again has shown how much it cares for the community and for improving the lives of families and individuals in
Story
County ,” said Jack Payne, Vice President for Extension and Outreach at
Iowa
State and Chair of the ISU UWSC Campaign.
As of Dec. 8, $312,665 had been pledged by ISU employees and students. The university’s goal was $295,500. In the overall campaign, United Way of
Story
County announced that it has received so far $1,615,425, which exceeds its $1,565,000 goal.
The university will make a presentation on its final campaign total to United Way of
Story
County during first half of ISU-Iowa women’s basketball game on Dec. 10.
“Leadership gifts account for more than 40% of the total amount of funds collected locally, so you can envision how important our dollars are to this effort. We thank everyone who provided funds for this campaign, which helps make a difference in the life of a neighbor, friend or person in need in our county,” said Pam White, Dean,
College of
Human Sciences , and Leadership Chairperson for ISU’s United Waycampaign.
