- Golf Fore Kids Grants to be Released
AMES, Iowa – (December 2009) The United Way of Story County (UWSC) Board of Directors has approved final disbursement of the proceeds of the 2009 UWSC Golf Fore Kids, which was held on Friday, August 21. Twenty-three proposals were received from Story County nonprofit agencies and thirteen were approved for funding, totaling $24,292. The thirteen programs will impact over 1,100 kids in Story County!

Kurt Jensen , Vice President, First National Bank and Co-Chair of the Golf Fore Kids Committee, commented, "The United Way of Story County 2009 Golf Fore Kids event was able to fund thirteen grant proposals totaling over $24,000.  This is a tremendous showing of support to help kids and families throughout Story County . The support of this annual event is helping make a difference to many kids and families but it is important to realize that your future generosity could make an even bigger impact for those in need in our community."

Berniece Hostetler, Grant and Contract Administrator at Community and Family Resources said, "The Richmond Center was a recipient of a 2009 Golf Fore Kids Grant from UWSC. We purchased therapeutic toys for the play therapy room which enable children receiving therapy to better express themselves through play. The therapists are better able to help the child with the issues at hand. We are so grateful to have the continued support of UWSC, an organization that has supported the Richmond Center over the last year to provide quality mental health services to residents of Story County who might otherwise not have access to services they need."
