United Way of Story County Endowment
The mission of United Way of Story County is to provide leadership in uniting individuals and organizations in a county-wide effort to plan, support, deliver and evaluate effective human service programs that respond to current and future needs and improve the quality of life in the community. The United Way of Story County (UWSC) Endowment was created in 2004 by the United Way of Story County Board of Directors with the purpose of supporting, sustaining and enhancing the UWSC mission - now and into the future. The annual campaign at United Way of Story County has been historically successful and has helped support effective programs that immediately address identified local human service needs. Annual contributions are spent each year and they cannot impact unplanned, long-range needs. (Examples of long-range needs include: unexpected community disasters, major new needs that are not adequately addressed by existing programs; support of existing programs in times during economic downturn.) Income from the Endowment, a permanent fund, will expand UWSC's ability to address these needs - despite fluctuations in the economy or in giving. To date, 84 generous givers have either contributed to the Endowment or have made commitments to make future gifts. The current Endowment total is $158,658. Donors to the UWSC Endowment, whether in cash or through estate plans, are eligible to become members of the Porch Light Society, our honorary group of generous and visionary community members who want to benefit generations of future Story County citizens. Current Porch Light Society members include:
