Community Support

HOW WE FUND
United Way of Story County (UWSC) is part of the collaborative ASSET allocations process in Story County. ASSET (Analysis for Social Services Evaluation Team) is a community-based and volunteer-led process in which major funders of human service programs in Story County work together to evaluate needs, programs and funding levels. Participants in the process include: City of Ames, Department of Human Services (DHS), Government of the Student Body (GSB) at Iowa State University, Story County Board of Supervisors, and United Way of Story County.

Each funder appoints four volunteers to represent it in this 12-month effort that culminates in January each year when funding recommendations are made.
